Next steps and key takeaways
The biggest open question is whether people would trust AI to judge price and sellers. AI Smart Insights only works if its recommendations are accurate, and the AI has to make them from limited photos and descriptions. A wrong “good deal” label could cost someone money or time, so the next step would be testing how accurate and trustworthy the insights feel to real buyers, and how sellers react to being scored.

PROBLEM
Browsing Marketplace can get time consuming and frustrating
Buyers juggle tons of tabs, flip between listings, and compare prices and sellers in their heads. Second-hand shopping carries built-in uncertainty: is the price fair, and is the seller reliable?
Exploring a concept of AI-native features for Facebook Marketplace
AI Smart Insights helps users compare listings and trust sellers without the overwhelm. Particularly in this project, we explored how AI could help people make confident purchasing decisions on Facebook Marketplace.
OVERVIEW
FINAL FLOW
AI Smart Insights for Facebook Marketplace
After selecting “Get AI Insights,” users will get a pop-up of the product insights page. Here, Meta AI will either recommend the user the product or suggest alternatives. After analyzing the chosen product, Meta AI will provide insights for the user to evaluate. When the user is ready to purchase the item, they can message the seller.
